Acknowledgments

The success of the Calgary Fire Department Pipes and Drums is directly tied to the support and assistance we have received from a variety of sources. The Band wishes to offer our sincere thanks to:

  • Fire Chief Bruce Burrell and all those in Administration, who have continued to show the support and enthusiasm for our Band.   This support began with Chief Burrell's predecessor Chief Wayne Morris a few short years ago.

  • The Executive, Membership and Staff of the International Association of Firefighters Local 255 for their continued support and providing us a place to practice (special thanks to Fran).

  • Our first "Band" piping instructor, Mary Ann Houston (who actively played with the band until her retirement in the spring of 2007).

  • Other piping and drumming instructors (both band and individual), Stephanie, David, "Hammy 911", Betty Anne, Neil & Holly and to the all the pipers drummers from bands across western Canada who have assisted us at every turn.

  • John Cobo and the Calgary Firefighters Museum Society.

  • The Calgary Fire Department Honour Guard.

  • The membership of the Calgary Police Service Pipe Band for their generosity, guidance and friendship, but most importantly their ability to get past the fact that we're firefighters and still hang out with us.

  • To Stuart and the staff of the Cat'n'Fiddle Pub for their assistance with our fundraising efforts.

  • To the "Kilt & Caber" for providing our original practice location.

  • All the businesses that continue to support our endeavours.

  • Alumni of the Calgary Firefighters Piping Society and our Band.

  • Last but certainly not least, we recognize the family, friends, and fellow firefighters who continue to support and encourage us.
